Toothless moggie seeks home after 365 days at Battersea
SURVIVOR: Merlin is looking for a loving home after being nursed to health and happiness at Battersea. (Battersea)
Merlin looking for the magic of a loving home
A courageous cat is finally ready to make the move to a loving new home after enduring a difficult phase in his life.
Merlin the moggy arrived at Battersea's Old Windsor Centre more than a year ago after the person who had been looking after him died.
The seven-year-old feline's troubles weren't over though, and he needed to undergo a series of dental surgeries to remove his teeth.
He also found cattery life overwhelming and was nervous around staff, leading to a spell with a foster carer placement where he could explore and settle at his own pace.
Battersea said Merlin proved to be a fighter and now has a clean bill of health and is ready for rehoming.
Thanks to everyone who helped to nurse him back to health, Merlin has grown into a "sweet, chatty and affectionate" cat, who is still able to enjoy his meals, treats and attention, despite his wet-food-only diet.
CALM: Thanks to loving support and care, Merlin is reported to have blossomed into a "loving, loyal, albeit sometimes dribbly, companion". (Battersea)
Gen Gossage, Battersea feline behaviour and training advisor, said: "Merlin has captured all our hearts during his year with us.
"Although he can be a bit shy at first, once he trusts you, he’ll happily follow you around and curl up on your lap for fuss.
"Anyone who takes the time to get to know Merlin will be rewarded with a loving, loyal, albeit sometimes dribbly, companion."
Battersea said Merlin is ready to find a calm, patient home where he can continue to build his confidence.
He has overcome a lot in his seven years and deserves a family who will love him - gummy smile and all.
