We all think out pets are special, but does yours have that little bit something extra, enough to win over other pet fans? The Who's Your Mate? Pet News™ Pets Cup (WYMPNPC) is a chance to put that to the test, with WYMPN readers voting for their champion pick. Winners stand to receive a 'Who's Your Mate? Pet News™' badge and custom winner's certificate to honour their shared triumph with their pet. Each qualification round takes place over about four weeks, or sooner if entries arrive quickly. There are eight qualification rounds in all, with a target of eight contenders in each, but rounds still proceed to the vote with lower numbers.
The winner of each qualifier proceeds to the final. Each round has up to two weeks for people to send in their entries, followed by about two weeks of voting. Entries are intended to be limited to one entry per household per round but with some flexibility to make up the numbers if needed, and also limited to one vote per round, and although some people will figure out how to circumvent that, WYMPN politely asks anyone tempted to refrain, as it's not in the spirit of the contest and with such a modest (though stylish in my humble opinion!) prize up for grabs it hardly seems worth it.
The page itself is laid out so the current round - whether the first round, the final or somewhere in between - is at the top, followed by any finalists to have qualified so far, followed by all eight rounds depending on which ones have entries yet.
It's intended to be a bit of fun, so owners shouldn't feel disheartened if the votes don't live up to expectations. Who's Your Mate? Pet News™ also reserves the right to disqualify people for suspected cheating, suspected fake entries and also to vary the entry and voting phases as practicality requires. Some cropping may also be required for pet pictures, or the addition of vertical borders or other editing to ensure a snug and consistent fit.
Owner's first names will be published with each entry on the competition page (i.e. this page).
No banned breeds or illegal species or anything involving cruelty or other illegal activity such as smuggling or non-domestic animals (so no tiger cubs and the like).
To enter, email a picture of your pet, your name, general location (town or county, etc), the type of pet (species or breed), and a short and catchy description of up to 10 words explaining why you think your pet should win to info@whosyourmatepetnews.co.uk
And good luck!
